80% payment for Egyptian cotton farmers
Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Kamel Ganzouri instructed heads of banks which finance cotton purchasing to raise the liquidity needed for paying farmers the advances amounting to 80 percent of the final price of the crops.
Dr. Ganzouri has instructed officials at the Ministry of Agriculture to draft a daily report on the purchasing process, especially after some farmers complained about the delay receiving their dues, although L.E 4 billion (about 1 billion U.S. dollars) has been allocated for this purpose, Al Ahrar daily said today.
