Khartoum might seek Arab League intervention in differences with Egypt
The Sudanese government called on Egypt to hold talks in order to solve the differences which erupted between the nations after Egypt accused Sudan of being involved in an attempt to assassinate President Mubarak in Addis Abba more than two years ago.
Sudanese Minister of Information Al Tayeb Ibrahim Mohammed Kheir said that talks between the two countries will be necessary to solve their problems. He added that all the differences could be solved, and that all the Egyptian institutions in Sudan could be reopened. Egypt has educational and irrigation institutions in Sudan, which were confiscated by the Sudanese authorities.
Kheir stated that the relations between the two countries are better now in spite of all the differences which could be solved through negotiations. He added that the negotiations are expected to be difficult. If the differences are not solved through negotiations, the whole matter could be dealt with by the Arab League.
Kheir welcomed the statements of Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa regarding the Egyptian-Sudanese relations, "the statements are positive," he said.
