Finding money to help the displaced

Originally published

The parliamentary committee for housing, cooperatives and the displaced held a meeting, yesterday, in the parliament building to address finding funds for the effort to help the displaced citizens. The session was presided over by M.P. Talal El-Merehbeh and attended by Minister of the Displaced Walid Jumblat.

It was agreed that the issue of the displaced is a priority and the committee discussed the issue of raising revenues and finding ways to raise funds for the ministry, which declined its allocation in the recently approved budget deal on the grounds that it would have been inadequate. Jumblat stated that his ministry will continue its task without the money.

Merehbeh proposed the introduction of the public beach property tax and highlighted the necessity of procuring the amount due from some Arab countries concerning this issue.
