Turkish reverses statement: No Syrian troop build-up on border

A deputy spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on October 6 there are no Syrian troops deployed along the border with Turkey.

The announcement which was made at a news conference held in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on October 6 is contradictory to news items released recently on the issue.

An official Syrian source earlier replied to a question on the reports that there was a Syrian troop build-up by stating that the reports were totally groundless.
