Developments in south Lebanon
An Israeli officer with the rank of Captain was killed yesterday, during the resistance's bombing of Mechaarun. The resistance stated that it launched several attacks on positions in Al-Sueidaa and Al-Reshaf and bombed a Lahdian infantry patrol, on the Sheheen-Jebeen road. The Israeli forces responded by bombing Majdel-Selm, Kabrikha, Tuleen, El-Jabal-El-Rafih, Sujud and Reehan. No human losses were declared.
In related news, the Surveillance of the April Agreements Committee held a five-hour meeting yesterday, to discuss an Israeli complaint which concerns the injury of a Lebanese civilian woman in Beit-Yahun. The committee reached the conclusion that the woman was hit during a raid executed by a Lebanese group but didn't accuse any side of breaking the April agreements. It only asked for self-control from the two parties. The Lebanese representatives declared that the Israeli positions are close to civilian houses, putting them in danger, and, thus, the bombing isn't breaking the agreement
.
One source said that the woman, around whom the committee's meeting centered, was killed and not injured. The official TV, Tele Liban, said, however, that she was injured.
