Kuwait to host sports conference
The Asian Olympics Council is preparing for its second international conference on environment and sports, due to be held in Kuwait in November under the sponsorship of Acting Prime and Foreign Affairs Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Sabah.
The Kuwait-based council said in a statement that the organizing committee of the conference is drafting a working plan for the conference, due to be attended by representatives of states, plus private and official organizations.
The organizing committee is presided over by Sheikh Ahmad Fahd Al Ahmed Sabah, chairman of the Olympics Council.
Separately, Sheikh Ahmed received an invitation from South African President Nelson Mandela to visit Cape Town with the aim of bolstering bilateral ties, particularly in the domain of youth sports activities.
