"Nile Elite" off hook, coast guard says

The coast guard in Aswan succeeded in saving the "Nile Elite" cruiser and its 30-member crew from sinking to the Nile's bottom, after the cruiser's maintenance crew had mistakenly caused water to leak into the cruiser.

The boat began to submerge with its crew, while more than 80 German tourists stood on shore waiting to leave for Abusimbel, the Pharaonic temple, El-Wadi newspaper reported today.
