Man charged with attempted rape in Guiza

Police in Guiza yesterday filed an attempted rape and assault charge against an air conditioning technician accused of trying to rape a German woman on the staircase of the Al-Mohadesien district apartment block she lived in, a police source said.

He said the woman, whose name was not disclosed, came to the police station with her clothes torn and complained that a man had chased her on her way home and tried to rape her.

Police forces arrested the culprit, 17-year-old Tarek Abdul Aal, and will refer him to the prosecutor's office soon, the sources said.
