Nurse confesses to killing 18 patients

Originally published

Yesterday Egyptian police in Alexandria arrested a matron who had killed over 18 patients.

42-year-old Aida Nur El-Din, a matron in an Alexandria hospital, tried to commit suicide yesterday by throwing herself from a third floor window, on her way to the prosecutor after she had admitted her guilt.

The story began when the hospital manager, whose name was withheld, discovered the sudden death of many ICU patients over a period of few months and told the prosecutor, who in turn started investigations. Suspicions centered around Aida.

The matron confessed that she injected at least 18 patients with drugs that cause immediate death, so she might enjoy her night-shift without their noises or requests.

Aida, now in a coma, is under strict guard.
