Mad cow uproar in Egypt

Dr. Ahmed Goweili, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Supply, was cool in facing recent questioning over the uproar that erupted after reports that British mad cow beef was being imported by Egyptian businessmen through Belgium.

Dr. Goweili was quoted as saying his ministry had no intentions of punishing the importers because the meat was confiscated in the Alexandria port before entering Egypt.
