Arafat to meet EU foreign ministers, possibly Isreal's Levy

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat will meet European Union froreign ministers this evening in Brussels along with Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy, according to a statement issued by the Luxembourg EU presidency.

"A discussion is also foreseen with the chairman of the Palestine Authority, Mr. Yasser Arafat," the statement said.

An official from the Luxembourg presidency was stalled for the past four months.

EU ministers will be briefed on the situation in the Middle East by the 15-state grouping's special envoy, Miguel Angel Moratinos.

A spokesman for Arafat said in Gaza earlier on July 21 that the Palestinian leader would fly to Brussels, but that it was not yet clear whether he would meet Levy.
