New movie house built by army for the first time

Originally published

The current crisis hitting the Egyptian cinema industry, a key hard exchange earner and Egypt’s second largest export in the past, has forced many authorities concerned to step in to give a hand.

The crisis is mainly attributed to the ability of superstars to monopolize the film theaters in Cairo and other big cities, nullifying attempts to pave the way for promising starlets.

The Morale Affairs Department has built a giant open-air movie theater in a Cairo suburb.

The theater seeks to provide for the district’s families a suitable place to watch the latest Egyptian and foreign movies.

The theater, which will open next week, is provided with latest audio-visual equipment for the first time in Egypt.
