Palestinian Authority looks to win US investors

Originally published

Taking a cue from Israel, the Palestinians are hoping to attract hundreds of businessmen from their American Diaspora to the first Palestinian investor's conference this month.

Conference organizers said on July 15 that some 200 Palestinian-Americans were expected to join 300 local businessmen for the four-day conference that begins July 21.

Organizer Hanna Abu Mutlak said joint ventures in agriculture, housing and tourism would be pitched to the visitors.

"We hope they will be attracted to the business potential here," said Shahlier Shiban, head of the North American department in the planning ministry, which is sponsoring workshops on economic policy, development and investment incentives.
