King Fahd receives Peay
Saudi King Fahd received on July 12 the commander of US troops in the Gulf, General James Binford Peay, the official Saudi news agency said.
Before speaking to the king, Peay held one meeting with Crown Prince Abdullah, and another with the defense minister Sultan Abdel bin Aziz.
About 22,000 US air force and marine troops are stationed in the gulf, mostly on warships. Nearly 5,000 of the troops are at a Saudi air base from which they oversee the air-exclusion, or no-fly zone in southern Iraq.
