Underground drug arrest

A plain-clothed detective yesterday arrested a man at a Cairo underground Metro station with 500 grams of “Bangs” in his possession, a security source said.

The source said a police sergeant became suspicious of a perplexed looking commuter who was carrying a bag, and when he stopped him he tried to jump over the turnstiles and escape.

The sergeant, after a brief chase, got hold of him and dragged him to the police office where the superintendent searched the bag and found the drugs, said the source, who asked not be identified.

The arrested man, a worker from Menufia governorate, confessed to possessing the drugs. Police referred him to the Cairo prosecutor for further interrogations, said the source.
