Jordan prepares voter list for elections

Jordanian interior minister Nazir Rasheed announced plans yesterday to register votes for parliamentary elections schedule to held this year.

The official Petra news agency carried a statement by Rasheed, saying that all new voters or people who had moved since the 1993 election should register before August 1.

Jordan has not officially set the elections. Prime Minister Abdul-Salam El Majali, seen as a caretaker whose main task was to prepare for the elections, has repeatedly said they will be held on time.
