Labor pains cost dad an ear

Originally published

A farmer in Sharkia province lost his left ear when he volunteered to help his wife while she was giving birth to their first child, a source at Belbis General Hospital said.

A farmer was admitted to the hospital suffering from an extensive bleeding after his ear was severed due to a bite from his 19 year old wife, who was in labor, said a senior matron at the surgery ward.

"The farmer wanted to comfort and support his wife, Morale, as she was suffering from pre-delivery contractions and he advised her to bite on the collar of his pajamas as means to reduce her labor pains“ added the matron, who asked not to be identified.

It seems that the wife missed her husband’s collar and munched on his ear instead, cutting it in the process.

So while the husband was yelping in agony, his wife screamed of labor pains as she delivered her first baby boy,“ said the nurse adding that the husband conceded all of his legal rights as he testified that his wife didn’t mean at all to cut his ear.
