Killer wife
Police in Assiut have pressed a premeditated murder charge against a female farmer and a man for killing the woman’s husband while he was asleep, a security source said.
Aida Shehata Agami, 45, confessed to burning her husband’s body after stabbing him to death in collaboration with her daughter’s finance, Ali Salama, 24, because he had refused to continue with a marriage plan for their only daughter, said the source who requested anonymity.
Aida told police that the victim, Hassan Ahmed Ali, 50, had decided to break off their daughter’s one year engagement to Ali due to his bad reputation in El-Aouna village, Assiut.
On the day of the murder, Ali came to the house while Hassan was taking a nap. "I ushered him to the bedroom and he stabbed my husband with a kitchen knife, stole LE 8,000 (about $2,000 US) from the wardrobe and swiftly fled the house," said Aida, adding that after a while she poured petrol on her husband’s body and set it aflame.
In a bid to seek an alibi, Aida went to the outpatient clinic of a nearby hospital on the pretext that she had a stomach ache and she was discharged by a resident doctor after giving her some pills, said the police source.
When she returned home she screamed for neighbors' help as she pretended that her husband had been killing by a burglar and reported the incident to the police, who conducted an investigation that proved that she and Ali were behind the man’s murder," the source said, adding that police referred the two culprits to the Assiut prosecutor, who ordered their detention for four days pending father interrogations.
