Egypt denounces shooting at Palestinian PM's convoy
Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit today denounced the shooting incident against the convoy of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh during his return to Gaza wrapping up a visit to Egypt.
In a press statement made on Saturday, the Egyptian top diplomat called on all the Palestinian parties to stop making statements and actions which heat up domestic tensions. He advised them to close up their ranks and avoid being dragged into domestic confrontations so as not to fall prey to attempts to ruin the Palestinian national unity.
Abul-Gheit pointed out that the Palestinian blood is "a red line" that should not be surpassed.
On the other hand, Minister Omar Suleiman instructed the Egyptian security delegation in Gaza to meet with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and leaders of the resistance factions to mull ways of ending Hamas-Fatah crisis.
The move followed an emergency meeting held between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Deputy Premier Nasreddin Al-Shaar in the Ramallah headquarters on Friday December 15.
