Arab gulf states nuclear efforts supported by Iran
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad today received a message from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad as-Sabah calling for development of Iran-Kuwait cooperation.
Mohammad Dhaifullah Sharar delivered the message to Ahmadi-Nejad and said that Kuwait regards Iranian progress as its own and that the progress Iran has made in the field of economic development and democracy would serve to neutralize conspiracies of the enemies of both Iran and Kuwait.
President Ahmadi-Nejad said that enemies of Islam have embarked on sowing discord among Muslims in the Middle East in a bid to create instability.
The Iranian president said that progress of any of the regional states would influence the progress of the entire Middle East.
Ahmadi-Nejad welcomed a decision made by leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) in Riyadh last weekend to establish nuclear power plants.
He said Iran is ready to share its experience with the Persian Gulf states to produce nuclear energy and replace oil with nuclear energy which is useful for environment protection.
Ahmadi-Nejad said that both Tehran and Kuwait City have common outlook about regional and international issues and Iran is willing to develop brotherly relations with Kuwait in all fields.
Meantime, European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said Thursday that the position of the EU regarding nuclear arms is very clear.
"In the long term we don't want a Middle East with weapons of mass destruction," Solana told a press conference replying to a question by an Iranian TV (IRIB) reporter on statements made by the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to a German TV on Monday in which he hinted that Israel possessed nuclear weapons. Solana avoided to answer the question directly saying "several people have spoken, denials have been issued."
