Hariri: Lebanon 'historic' opportunity to liberate and rebuild the South

Originally published

Head of the Future Bloc in Parliament in Lebanon MP Saad Hariri said dialogue among the Lebanese is the task of 'responsible' political leaders, to avoid discord and any void in state governance, pointing to some in the country who find it in their local and regional interest to scuttle dialogue, a prospect he vowed to resist.

MP Hariri paid a special tribute to House Speaker Nabih Berri's role in preventing political friction from turning into sectarian discord. He also said South Lebanon and the entire country face a historic "liberation and construction" opportunity, and that the South should be allowed to "rest."

Speaking at an iftar meal, marking the end of the fasting day of Ramadan, in Koreitem, in honor of families from the South, head of the Future Bloc said the region has become synonymous to heroism, martyrdom, steadfastness, and resistance despite the "Israeli enemy's" persistent military invasions and attacks since 1978.
