PLO adopts Abbas call on referendum
The PLO Executive Committee (EC) has adopted today President Abbas' call for conducting a referendum on the document of the national reconciliation, launched by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
In an extraordinary meeting, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, the EC "adopted and supported" Abbas' call for conducting a referendum on the Prisoners' Document.
The EC said that it adopted the call for reaching political results aiming at strengthening the attitude of the PNA to end the political isolation.
During the meeting, attended by representatives of Parliamentarian blocs and political powers and businessmen, Abbas said that he will announce, on the end of the week, his decision to begin work on the referendum.
President said that the "door of dialogue is still opened" to give Hamas more time to change its position.
The PLO Executive Committee stated that most of Palestinian factions accepted the Document but Hamas has not yet.
