Palestinian official calls for campaign against Israeli regime

Originally published

Head of the political relations department of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Ali Abu Shahin, urged the need to continue campaign against the Israeli regime in response to its nonstop crimes.

In an interview with IRNA yesterday, he referred to the martyrdom-seeking operations in Tel Aviv as well as the importance of the decision taken by the Palestinians to resist the attacks of the Zionist regime, during which the Palestinian commanders were assassinated.

"The Palestinian people expect the Palestinian Authority (PA) to condemn Israel's terrorist moves rather than criticizing the resistance trend.

In response to the question whether the operations against Israeli non-military officials will not give Europe and US a pretext to exert further pressure on Palestinian groups, in particular Hamas, he said, "The measures taken by the Zionist regime is the height of terrorist acts.

"The Western countries should pressurize the Zionist regime to stop such attacks for the sake of the Middle East security and stability." Abu Shahin criticized the silence of the international community on the crimes committed by Israel, particularly its attacks on the Gaza Strip two weeks ago.

He dismissed the remarks of some individuals that the martyrdom-seeking operations bear no fruit for the Palestinian people.

Abu Shahin said that Israel understand no other language, except that of force, adding that in their case merely military option will work out.

An 18-year-old militant from the PIJ, Sami Hamad, was behind a attack on Monday which killed nine Israelis and wounded 50 others.
