Wakim rejects foreign mandate for Lebanon
Lebanese ex-parliamentarian Najah Wakim on Sunday reiterated rejection to any foreign mandate for Lebanon that "some Lebanese parties have been working for."
In a lecture he delivered at Al-Assad National Library in the Syrian capital titled "Readings into the Lebanese Events in Light of Regional Developments", Wakim underlined the deep-rooted relationship connecting Syria and Lebanon.
"It is wrong to deny Syria's sacrifices for ending the civil war in Lebanon and supporting the Lebanese resistance to liberate the South," Wakim said.
The Lebanese ex-MP added that what is going on in Lebanon is not isolated from world outside but resulted from the US aggressive policy towards any national or liberty movement.
He called for US withdrawal from Iraq, underscoring the necessity of preserving the country's unity and sovereignty.
Wakim called for protecting the national Lebanese resistance and failing all foreign plots aimed at dominating the region, stressing the necessity of facing all challenges against the region and activating the national and pan-Arab forces' initiatives.
Wakim delivered the lecture on an invitation by Syrian Information Ministry.
