Mubarak warns of repercussions to anti-Islam campaign

Originally published

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak warned of the consequences of the ongoing events relating to the Western depiction of prophet Muhammad as a terrorist, and other anti-Muslim manifestations.

Mubarak told MENA yesterday that "the freedom of expression and freedom of the press, which are sponsored and respected, should not be a pretext to insult beliefs and religions," the government noted.

Mubarak "further warned that the continuation of this malicious campaign would outrage the Islamic world and the Muslim communities in Europe and everywhere. Irrational handling of such campaign would help create more strong pretexts for terrorists and extremists, the president pointed out."

Mubarak expressed great appreciation for Former US president Bill CLinton for for condemning the anti-Islam campaigns.

The Grand Sheik at al-Azhar main Islamic institute said it was extremely poor of others to mock a dead person who is unable to defend himself.
