Arab Lawyers Conference deliberations
The 22nd Conference of Arab Lawyers Union held deliberations Sunday at the Umayyad Palace for Conferences in Damascus, SANA said.
The activities were divided into 4 committees, the Arab Nation Committee, the Basic Freedoms, Professional Affairs and the Organizing Committee.
Deliberations of the Arab Nation Committee underlined that the Arab Nation is a one nation that shares one history, heritage, language, geography and destiny but, the participants say, the colonial countries have fought against the concept of the Arab unity through dividing the Arab states into weak policies.
During the conference, interpositions noted that the political reform in the Arab states, which the US and western powers call for, has no relation to the idea of reform as a good thing, but it only serves the interests of Israel.
Some Lebanese lawyers participating at the Conference presented a paper rejecting the international mandate to solve internal disputes and Arab problems under any pretext.
A French Lawyer who was the ex-Chief of Paris lawyers strongly criticized the politicization of the probe into the assassination of Lebanese former Premier Rafiq Hariri, saying that the aim of the probe is obliging Syria to follow a policy that the US wants.
On its part, the basic freedoms Committee, said that democracy which the US seeks to market is false where any one opposes the US war policy will face death or arrest.
Participants at the freedoms Committee called on Arab governments to expand the margin of participation in the political life in a way to ensure a gradual and studied change into new horizons of political work.
