Lebanese ex-premier condemned Friday US pressures as aiming at passing the so-called Greater Middle East project "to destroy Arab nationalism, and tear the region in the service of the Israeli entity."

Salim al-Hoss, in an interview with al-Nour radio, said "The US aims, through pressure on Syria and Lebanon, at disarming the resistance and compelling Syria to sign peace with Israel in order to end the Palestinians rights to Palestine."

He indicated to the fierce attacks by some Lebanese parties to abort the continued Arab endeavors to solve out the Syrian-Lebanese problems.

"The resistance arms is directed against the occupation. We are in need to this as long as Lebanon is exposed to the daily Israeli aggressions," Hoss concluded.

Meanwhile, Head of Lebanese Scholars Commission of Mount Amel, Sheik Afif al-Naboulsi, said "the Lebanese need to build strategic relations with Syria." No one has the interest to harm the Syria-Lebanese relations, Naboulsi indicated, stressing that stability of political and security situations to be in both Lebanon and Syria's interest.
