US soldier killed in Iraq

One American marine was killed in-Fallouja area on Sunday and making the total number of US soldiers killed in Iraq since Saturday evening 8.

A statement by the American army said that the said soldier was killed as a result of his wounds in a fighting operation by light weapons fire, 60 km west of Baghdad.

A American statement indicated earlier that one soldier was killed in the north of Baghdad while another was killed together with other 15 Iraqi civilians in an ambush near Haditha, 28 km west of Baghdad.

This came after an announcement made by the American leadership announcing the killing of five American soldiers in two explosive attacks near Beiji, 200 km to the north of Baghdad.
