Originally published

The legal advisor for the Syrian foreign ministry Riad al-Dawoudi met in Barcelona on Friday with Detlive Mehlis, the chairman of the UN investigation committee to the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri.

News reports in Damascus said that the meeting will discuss the place and time for meeting six Syrian officials who Mehlis asked for their interrogation within the course of the UN investigation.

A source at the Syrian foreign ministry said that "talks between al-Dawoudi and Mehlis will discuss a Syrian proposal to that Mehlis to interrogate the Syrian officials in UN offices in the Golan Heights," instead of questioning them at Mehlis premises in Monteverdi hotel in Beirut; a proposal presented by Mehlis and rejected by Damascus.

The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad delegated persons to several countries to explain the Syrian view points and confirm commitment to cooperation with the UN investigation committee.
