Originally published

Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Waters on Monday denied allegations that Syria has stopped providing Lebanon with electricity.

The Ministry said in a statement that the relations between it and the Syria Establishment for the Generation and Distribution of Energy ( SEGDE) is regulated by agreements signed between the two sides.

The statement added that "the Syrian Minister of Electricity positively responded to our demand on redrawing the energy from Syria and provided us with facilities regarding paying the charge of electricity in easy installments regarding the interest on arrears. The Minister also exempted us from any advanced payments before the issuing of energy bill."

It said the SEGDE has been providing Lebanese Deir Nabouh and Anjar stations with 85 and 35 Megawatts successively.

The statement called on the media to verify facts before publishing anything about such issues in order to avoid any harm to the relations with Syria.
