US continued attack operation in west Iraq

While denunciation continued over what the American army's attacks in west Iraq, a statement by the American forces said that the "iron curtain" operation in which Iraqi forces are taking place in al-Karabelah area on the Syrian borders entered its last stages.

The statement explained that the number of ready-made explosions went down with the advancement of the forces, adding that some 19 locally-made explosives were discovered in al-Karabelah, besides three houses that were booby trapped together with one car.

The operation which started west of Iraq on the fifth of November is attended by 2500 American marines and 1000 Iraqi soldiers. The American forces allege that this operation aims at reestablishing security on the Iraqi- Syrian borders and destroying al-Qaida network which is active in al-Huseibah area to the west.
