Annan meets Mubarak in Egypt

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak and visiting UN Secretary General Kofi Annan dealt with the latest developments in the Middle East and Africa, Presidential Spokesman Soliman Awwad said on Wednesday. Awwad said talks focused on the situation in the Palestinian territories after the Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip and UN Security Council resolution 1636 on Syria.

The situation on Sudan, he added, was also on the agenda especially the troubled Darfur region and peace talks in Abuja, Nigeria.
