Unveiling truth is a Syrian-Lebanese necessity, speaker says
Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, said Sunday that unveiling the truth about the assassination of Lebanese former Premier Rafiq Hariri is a necessity for Lebanon, Syria and the Arabs in seeking Lebanon's salvation.
"We are optimistic we will overcome challenges imposed on our homeland, particularly the big challenge posed by the assassination of Hariri which created chaos in Lebanon," Lebanese National News Agency quoted Berri as telling Lebanese community members in Geneva.
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary General of Lebanese Hizbullah, Sheikh Naiim Qassem, said that "Lebanon is targeted by the US and Israel because of its relation with Syria, and its resistance in the face of the Israeli enemy."
"Israel is permanently seeking to target Syrian-Lebanese relations to make Lebanon a passage to harm Syria and Lebanon at the same time," Sheikh Qassem said in a speech in the Lebanese Eastern city of Balbek.
He added that Israel wants to weaken and end resistance in Lebanon in a bid to make it a land of chaos and sedition.
Meantime, Lebanese Members of Parliament of al-Wafa to Resistance Hussein al-Hag Hasan and Jamal al-Taksh reiterated Lebanon's commitment to the national resistance as a strategic option in facing the Israeli continued aggression on Lebanon.
During a breakfast banquet overnight, they stressed that the national resistance is a strong factor in deterring the Israeli threats against Lebanon.
They added that Israel tried to practice pressures on Lebanon to foil the resistance option, asserting that Israel is the only beneficiary of disarming Lebanese national resistance.
