Originally published

The Egyptian security authorities imposed tough security measures around Mar Jerjus ( Saint Georges) Church in Alexandria city with continued protests by hundreds deploring a debated Christian play on CD ROM said to be distorting of Muslims.

The demonstrators chanted slogans deploring the play and demanded halting of its circulations, and also simultaneously called on the Christian religious leaderships to explain the situation.

The security forces dispersed the demonstrators into the streets surrounding the church, and prevented the passage of cars of fears of escalation in the situation and the eruption of sectarian confrontations.

Al-Jazeera Satellite TV said that the demonstrators started their protest following Friday's prayers and then demonstrated again after evening prayers.

Several days ago the Cairo independent al-Osbo weekly issued the scenario of the story of a young Christian who embraced Islam and is involved in the work in the lines of the Islamic groups.

According to the scenario, the young converted man is treated as a second class and his role is limited to serve other members of the Islamic group until he succeeds to escape to the church, and Muslims continued to chase him.

However, hundreds of Christians organized a series of demonstrations in Cairo in November after one Christian lady embraced Islam, as they accused Islamic religious groups of kidnapping her and forcing her to embrace Islam.
