Abbas- Sharon summit
The Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas said that he has many demands he will discuss with the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon in their expected summit within the few coming day.
Abbas stressed that he will cling during his meeting with Sharon to the matters agreed upon in Sharm al-Sheikh summit which took place in February, noting in particular to the cases of the prisoners and the expelled and the Israeli withdrawals.
The two sides agreed in Sharm al-Sheikh on the principle of releasing Palestinian detainees in the Israeli jails, and handing over the security in five cities among other 8 in the West Bank to the Palestinian authority.
On the demands, Abbas said he will put before Sharon the issues of the halt to settlement, and the halt to the building of the wall of separations in the West Bank.
The chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Oreikat asked for that the next summit will be that of results rather then the summit of negotiations.
The summit is expected to be convened before the visit Abbas will be held to Washington on October 20, where he will be meeting with the US President George W. Bush.
