Tishrin: 875 thousand business establishments in Syria

The Statistics Central Bureau pointed out to the presence of 875 thousand economic establishments in Syria including 529 thousand private establishments and 24,8 thousands companies in addition to 45,6 thousands public and 84 thousand joint establishments and the remaining are cooperative and non-profit establishments, Tishrin daily said Sunday.

The bureau added that Aleppo has the largest number of the economic establishments working in the private sector since it includes 126 thousand establishments, 76 thousands in Damascus suburb; in Damascus 75 thousands, in Homs 53 thousands, in Hama 43 thousands, in Lattakia 33 thousands and in Qunitera 1500 and in Seweda 11 thousands.

The Bureau stressed that 337 thousand establishments deal with wholesale and retail trade and 98 thousand in convertible industries.

The number of the establishments that works in real-estate activities is about 22 thousands and financial mediation are 91 thousands and in health and social activities are 24 thousands, the Bureau asserted.

The number of restaurants in Syria is 15 thousands, 481 hotels and 10,7 agricultural establishments.

The numbers indicate that the economic and industrial activities concentrate in Aleppo and Damascus. The numbers are the outcomes of 2004 statistics.
