Iraqi journalist killed in Karbala
The body of the Iraqi journalist Haidar al-Tamimi was found killed by several bullets in the head, few hours after his kidnapping at the hands of gunmen.
The wife of al-Tamimi, who has been working for several foreign media companies, including the New York Times, said that four veiled gunmen kidnapped her husband from his house in the center of the city and took him to unidentified place before he was hand-tightened and killed in al-Qubla quarters, west central of Basra.
Haidar's brother said that the men who arrived at the house after midnight said that they were internal security men and they want to interrogate him as part of an investigation.
Tamimi is the second journalist to be kidnapped and killed in Basra during the two past months after Steven Vanson who was killed in August while preparing a book about the city criticizing its security departments in an article in the New York Times.
