The Archeological Department in Daraa Governorate, has discovered a golden Dinar representing the era of the Abbassid Khalifa al-Mu'tasem Billah during the first season of the archeological excavation in al-Omari Mosque site in Ezraa, southern Syria, al-Thawra daily said Sunday.

Chairman of the Archeological Department in Daraa, Iad al-Farwan, said that the Dinar was made in Sanaa, Yemen, in 224 Hijra, Islamic calendar, adding that the discoveries unveiled a new blueprint for the mosque which contradicts the supposed blueprint of the mosque that was discovered by the German archeologist Michael Minkieh.

A stony drawing was also found which tells that Prince Raslan Rken had ordered reconstruction of the mosque, al-Furwan added.

He stressed that these discoveries uncover new information about the city of Ezraa which is considered one of the pioneer places for the spread of the Islam and Christianity.
