81 persons injured in a fire in Sharjah

Some 81 persons were injured, three of them were greatly hurt, after a huge fire erupted on Sunday morning in three warehouses containing chemicals in the industrial zone in Sharjah Emirate, in the United Arab Emirates.

According to the UAE news agency the warehouses where the fire took place also contained timber materials, and this helped rapid access of fire to the houses of workers.

News reports in Sharjah said that all the wounded are workers, adding that civil defense teams in each of Sharjah, Ajaman and Dubai and the armed forces in collaboration with Sharjah police contributed to fighting the fire.

The news said that the fire flames damaged the content of the three warehouses fully and this inflected huge material losses, while the area surrounding the site of the fire covered by intensive smoke spread. over a vast area.

So far the reason of the fire was not known, while the police stressed the need of providing general security means in the industrial area.
