Talibani criticizes Arab states for weak diplomatic representation

Originally published

The Iraqi President Jalal al-Talibani strongly criticized the Arab states over their weak diplomatic representation in Iraq, and he expressed his regret over the fact that most of them did not help the Iraqi people in the painful incident of the "Imams bridge stampede" which claimed the life of more than 1000 persons.

Talibani criticized what he called the lack of cooperation by the Arab states with Iraq, noting that this contradicts with their allegations that Iraq should be part of the Arab League.

Worthy mentioning that with the deterioration of the security condition in Iraq, several Arab diplomats in Baghdad were exposed during the past phase to armed attacks, the main incident of which was the kidnapping and assassination of the Egyptian ambassador in Baghdad, and the kidnapping and killing of two Algerian diplomats, and opening fire at Bahrain's charge de affairs.

The attack by the Iraqi president came amid questions issued by the draft Iraqi constitution, especially over the Arab identity of Iraq.
