On Tel-Afer clashes in Iraq
The American army announced that it killed 13 gunmen in clashes with gunmen Sunday evening in Tel-Afer, west of Musil, near the Syrian border.
US military sources said that among the dead were seven killed by shelling fired by one helicopter at a mosque in the city.
A statement by the American army alleged that its forces were exposed to intensive fire from gunmen sheltered in the mosque and as a result they were obliged to seek air support.
The clashes took place in al-Qadeseyah and al-Saraey areas in Tel-Afer north of Iraq. Iraqi medical sources said that the positions of the two areas exposed on Sunday to American air bombardment. The volume of material and human losses resulting from this action were not know.
