Palestinian National Security Adviser Jibril Rajoub said the visit by Minister Omar Solaiman to the Palestinian territories was meant to help resolve pending issues between the Palestinians and Israel.

In statements to Radio Sawa on Monday, Rajoub said Egypt has played a vital role in helping the Palestinian resistance factions to hammer out an agreement on observing calm with Israel.

He also hailed the Egyptian efforts to solve many pending issues between the Palestinians and Israel, atop of which is the Israeli military pullout from Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat also hailed Egypt's role in supporting the Palestinians.

He also praised the Egyptian decision to deploy border guards along the Philadelphi axis in Rafah.

Also, Sulaiman is due to address the Palestinian parliament today on behalf of President Hosni Mubarak.

Sulaiman will review Egypt's vision of the future of the peace process in light of the current developments.

Meanwhile, the mainstream Palestinian Fatah movement welcomed Monday the visit by Minister Omar Solaiman to the Palestinian territories.

Fatah said in a statement that the visit coincides with the evacuation of the Jewish settlers from Gaza Strip and the dismantle of the Israeli settlements.

It also hailed Egypt's robust role in supporting the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights and establishing their independent state with Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
