Sudan rebels talks postponed to mid September
The 6th round of the peace talks supervised by the African Union between the Sudanese government and the two rebel movements in Darfur was postponed until mid September.
In a press conference, chief negotiator of the Union, Salem Ahmad Salem, said that the decision to postpone the talks, which were presumed to start on Thursday, came three day of consultations with sides concerned in Dar al-Salam.
Salem explained that the next round of Abuja talks will discuss participation in the government and wealth sharing in addition to security arrangements. He explained that Sudan's liberation movement and al-Adel Wal-Musawat ( justice and equality) movements are determined to reach an agreement with the government of Sudan.
The two movements and the Sudanese government reached last July a declaration of principle after talks that lasted three weeks, and the negotiations were suspended after the two sides signed the agreement.
On the other hand, the spokesman fir the Sudan's liberation movement said that key figures in the movement will hold today a meeting in Asmara, Eritrea, to settle differences between the chairman of the movement Abdul Wahid Muhammad al-Nour and its secretary general Mona Arko Manawi.
