Director of Syrian Customs, Bassel Sannoufa, has said that procedures that Syria and Lebanon have agreed on to facilitate the passage of trucks and easing congestion on the crossing points was accepted by the two sides.

In a statement to al-Thawra daily on Thursday, Sannoufa attributed the congestion to logistics connected with the limited roads capacity to contain the large number of tourist cars in addition to trucks, pointing out that media has overplayed this issue.

He added that the inspection on the borders has uncovered an amount of weapons, drugs and medicines.

He held the Lebanese side responsible for the traffic jams on the borders because it violated the procedures adopted in this regard.

He stressed that the expansion of al-Dabousia crossing point will cost half a million SP. The two sides agreed on adopting extraordinary procedures to facilitate the movement on the three crossing points between the two states.
