Desert deer numbers at the natural reserve of Talileh, in the Syrian desert of Palmyra, has totaled 445 heads, and the Arabic Maha Deer numbers have reached 71 heads, natural reserves supervisor in central Syria said on Tuesday.

Director of the project to revive pastures and build natural reserves at the Syrian Badiyah, Abdul Kahaleq Asaad told SANA "this reserve is considered the first of its kind in Syria where it takes all the care that matter that helps to increase number of animals threatened with extinction in their natural environment." He expected the number to double during the upcoming years, and to distribute some of them to other natural reserves in Syria.
