It was announced in Khartoum that the oath taking ceremony for the new leader of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), Sylva Keer, as the First Vice President of Sudan, was postponed until the end of condolences period offered on the killing of John Garang.

A source close to the Sudanese presidency attributed the postponement until the end of condolences offered to the widow of John Garang who was killed in a plane crash last week.

The source explained that Vice President Ali Othman Taha headed on Tuesday to Jouba to offer condolences to Reeika Garang, adding that another date for the oath ceremony was not set.

It is decided that after Keer's taking oath, he will form a new coalition government under a majority for the ruling National Congress Party and the SPLM with a small portion for other parties and blocs.
