Demonstration in al-Samawah

Al-Samawah city, south Iraq, witnessed confrontations between police and hundreds of demonstrators who were protesting over poor services in the city, and this resulted in killing one demonstrator at least, and injuring other 44 persons including 14 police men.

Witnesses said that the protestors threw stones at the police and set fire in cars many of them for the police in front of the office of the municipality chairman demanding his resignation. The police reacted by firing live bullets.
