Khatami: Iran supports Lebanon
Iran on Monday renewed support to Lebanon "in the face of challenges it is exposed to."
President of Iran, Mohammad Khatami, meeting Hizbullah Secretary General Hasan Nasrullah in Tehran, condemned foreign interventions in the Lebanese internal affairs, underlying that Iran's policy is based on "backing national unity of Lebanon."
He referred to the prominent role Hizbullah plays in defending and preserving the unity of Lebanon.
Iran's president-elect, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, for his part, stressed in a similar meeting with Nasullah the importance of boosting and strengthening Lebanese-Iranian relations, adding that the Lebanese movement gained an important place at the Islamic world.
On his part, the Hizbullah chief said that the main issue for his party is resisting the Israeli aggression, hinting to the Israeli continuous violations of Lebanese airspace and sovereignty.
