Lebanon's Samir Jaajaa released from prison
The commander of the dissolved Lebanese Forces, Samir Jaajaa, said that the country is in a state of unbalance, but he will not spare efforts to rehabilitate it, calling for cooperation because what happened in the past is in the past and cannot be retracted.
In a speech after his release, he expressed thanks for parliamentarians Saad al-Hariri and Walid Junblat for their efforts to release him.
Jaajaa added before many of his supporters and Lebanese figures at Beirut's airport after his departure from prison and leaving for an unknown destination in Europe that there was an attempt to exterminate one of the two wing of the Lebanese society, in remarks to the Christians, through detentions which targeted what he called "nationalists".
Jaajaa, said in statements yesterday that political assassination in Lebanon have not ended with the assassination of Rafiq al-Hariri, as it also never started with the assassination of the former Lebanese president Rene Mu'awad," considering that challenges are still facing Lebanon concerning assassinations and acts of liquidation inside and what he called violating security on the border.
The Lebanese judiciary had earlier issued four life-imprisonment sentences against Jaajaa over accusations of being involved in several acts of assassination during the Lebanese civil war. This was before the Lebanese judiciary ratified last week a pardon of Jaajaa as part of the national reconciliation process in Lebanon after he had spent 11 years in jail.
The commander of the dissolved Lebanese Forces, who did not touch upon Syria by name, indicated that he preferred to stick and practice his convictions, even if only on an area of 6 square meters inside the prison, at a time when others preferred to give up these convictions.
