Explosion near Green Zone in Baghdad

Iraqi security sources said that one booby trapped car went off on Thursday at an inspection point near the Green Zone which includes government buildings and diplomatic missions in Baghdad.

The sources explained that the car was stationed near one of the gates of the Green Zone went off and this resulted in injuring at least five persons, after that one suicide bomber headed towards the entrance of the police building and detonated himself.

Other sources confirmed that the car explosion was followed by mortars shelling. The explosion comes 24 after the killing of 27 Iraqis, most of them are children, and injuring of scores in a suicide attack in a booby trapped car that targeted one American military vehicle in Baghdad.

The American army announced that this attack, the second of its kind in Baghdad within one week, resulted also in killing one American soldier and injuring other three.
